Recently I’ve gotten to paint at some trunk shows in South Carolina and Alabama, following the crazy ride that is John Hardy in full swing for the fall season. Here is a brief look at the gigs! The first one was in Aiken, South Carolina. Gorgeous horse country to be driving through, but the drive was three hours in a pencil skirt and heels, so it was a little rough. Luckily, I had Celine Dion to keep me company, and I’m not ashamed to admit that I sang at the top of my lungs… for three hours….. yeah, I did that. It was delightful.
My next traveling trunk show was in Auburn, Alabama. Weirdly, even though I live so close, I’ve never been to Auburn. It was beautiful, all giant oaks and brick buildings that had that neo-classical brick gravitas that makes southern state college campuses so imposing and rich. The event was in Ware jewelry store, a big family owned storefront with huge windows overlooking campus, and glittering diamonds in every case. I had a station right by the window, so people walking by could see me painting. I actually got a bit of an adrenaline rush from the extra audience, it was exciting!
I’m really fashion events. The atmosphere is so relaxed but festive, and everyone is enchanted by beauty, whether it be the jewelry or the models, or the location, or hopefully even the paintings!
